Yesterday I met with Todd from Om Boys Juice Co and after a brief conversation it became apparent that his local fresh organic juice bar would be a great fit for a farm share drop-off location. Todd’s business is dedicated to bringing healthy organic choices to the local community and so are we. We’re also excited about potentially supplying Om Boys with vegetables from our farm for their juice, when we have a surplus from our CSA production. Can’t wait to drop off the CSA shares and have a fresh pressed juice every week!

Pick-up times are every Tuesday from 3-6pm starting June 12th.

The weather has been a bit strange this spring for sure, one day it’s 80 degrees and the next there’s several inches of wet late April snow. But overall it’s been fairly mild and dry which has let us work our fields early and plant all the season appropriate crops in plentiful amounts. Our first plantings of peas and spinach are up, we planted 70,000 onion sets, transplanted broccoli, kale, collards, parsley, cabbage, and kohlrabi. We covered these with row cover fabric to protect the plants from cold nights. From seed we also have planted two plantings of peas and spinach, carrots, beets, Italian dandelion, mustard greens, turnips, and baby boc choi. Next week we’ll transplant lettuce, chard, more broccoli and cabbage, Napa cabbage, boc choi, Jerusalem artichokes, and fennel. From seed we’ll plant more spinach, and some radishes.

Our perennial crops are a mixed bag this year. The raspberries and rhubarb look amazing, but we are pretty worried about this year’s strawberry crop, the fluctuating temperatures and wet spring and fall of last year seem to have taken a toll. It’s still too early to say for sure, but we may have lost the lovely spring berries for this year. On the plus side we just planted a half acre of strawberries for next year and they look great.

Looking forward to a bountiful CSA share!

We’ll have everything we need to sign people up for shares for the upcoming season, including a means to accept credit card transactions. Market begins at 9 am and ends at 3 pm, our CSA program doesn’t start until June 10th at market, but we will be there most Saturdays between now and then.
