The beautiful “Autumn Summer” of last week has finally given way to the typical crisp chill of late October and harvesting the CSA veggies now requires a few extra layers and a hat. Our last pick-up for the summer season is still a few weeks away (it’s the second week of November if you’re not on our email list), and we still have quite a bit of good stuff coming in from the fields.
The chilly nights are perfect for sweetening Brussels Sprouts. Our plan is to start harvesting the Brussels Sprouts this week, the stalks that they grow on are very long and aren’t going to fit easily into our CSA boxes so we’re going to have to figure out how to best get them in them to our CSA members. Because of this we’ll probably just put the Brussels in the Large boxes for this week so that we can figure out an time efficient strategy.
We are up to our ears in Turnips – Pink Turnips, Purple Top Turnips, and white Hakurei Turnips – so look for them in your CSA shares – we’ll post a recipe on the blog Monday or Tuesday to help keep your Turnip wheels turning. Also this week more Onions, Carrots, Mizuna, Lettuce, Potatoes, Butternut Squash, Fennel, and possibly Napa Cabbage and Hot Peppers (the sweet peppers and bell peppers are done).
Our Winter CSA Boxes are selling very quickly and we anticipate selling all that we have available of these Monthly Winter CSA deliveries. Each box is a full bushel for $45 or buy all three for $125! Click Here To Sign-Up
Also, don’t forget to Renew Your Share!10% off if you pay in full, 5% off if you opt for the payment plan – deal ends at the end of November!
